The Cat's Eye View

Mark Ricco

Mark Ricco, Staff Writer

Mark Ricco is a junior at Becton Regional who is passionate about his music career. Ricco has always been interested in music and the arts, but his first experience with an instrument was in the third grade- the ole' trusty recorder. One year later, with the influence of his dad, he picked up a clarinet. Although Ricco’s favorite instrument is the clarinet, he also knows how to play other instruments such as the tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, and drums. This may seem very demanding, but Ricco shares with ease, "It is all about the way it makes me feel. I can express myself through all the different instruments." Aside from music, Ricco also enjoys swimming and playing center or point guard in basketball. Ricco grew up in East Rutherford and went to Alfred Faust Middle School, but for his first two years of high school, he attended Lodi. While at Lodi in his freshman year, he joined Jazzhouse Big Band and was sought out by a recruiter from Julliard. To his astounding disbelief, he was contacted and asked to join their prestigious program. As for after college, Ricco plans to be a film scorer and continue playing the clarinet. One of Ricco’s short-term goals includes rekindling friendships from his days at Alfred Faust. He is very excited to be in the Cat's Eye View, back in the community, and to show what he has learned as a person in his short time away! Welcome back, and to the Cat's Eye View, Ricco!
