Henry P. Becton Regional High School has earned a recognition on the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools list for the 2025–2026 school year, receiving both national and metro-area recognition. The honor comes alongside Becton’s designation as a High Performing District by the New Jersey Department of Education.
Together, these recognitions tell a story years in the making, one built on bold decisions, dedicated people, and an unwavering belief in every student who walks through our doors.
That story accelerated when Becton welcomed nearly 350 additional students through a landmark regional merger. The growth didn’t simply increase enrollment, it transformed opportunity. New clubs emerged, athletic programs expanded, and academic offerings deepened. What could have been viewed as a challenge became a defining moment in the school’s history. Much of that success belongs to Becton’s faculty and staff, many of whom joined the district within the last five years. They didn’t simply fill positions, they elevated expectations and helped create a culture where excellence is the standard.
Walk through Becton’s halls and you’ll see those investments in action. Seniors are participating in meaningful internships across healthcare, medicine, nursing, law, business, finance, engineering, technology, education, media, architecture, public service, veterinary science, culinary arts, and dozens of other career fields through the district’s nationally recognized Career Exploration Internship Program. The BectoBots Robotics Team continues to compete at the highest levels. Student-athletes are breaking records. Performing artists are filling seats and earning standing ovations. The arts remain a cornerstone of the Becton experience, with a vibrant Performing Arts Program, thriving Visual Arts Program, and strong participation in Teen Arts. Beyond the classroom, students continue to expand their horizons through immersive international experiences in Italy and Spain, following previous educational experiences in France, creating memories and perspectives that will last a lifetime.
Academic momentum continues to build. A new Engineering Program launched this year. AI-powered tools such as Khanmigo are helping personalize learning. Expanded SAT preparation, college essay support, dual credit opportunities, and more than 30 Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses ensure students graduate with both confidence and a competitive advantage. Financial literacy, sustainability education, and real-world learning experiences help prepare students not only for college and careers, but for life.
Becton’s commitment to supporting the whole child extends beyond academics. Its Special Education Program stands as a model of authentic inclusion, ensuring students with learning disabilities, language-based disabilities, multiple disabilities, and autism are fully integrated into the life of the school. Student well-being receives the same level of commitment through mental health partnerships, counseling supports, social-emotional learning, the Building Men Leadership Program, more than 25 clubs and activities, and initiatives such as the From Scratch Lunch Program. Together, these efforts create a culture where students feel supported, connected, and empowered to succeed.
Looking ahead, Becton’s Pathways 2030 initiative will continue expanding STEM, career, and college readiness opportunities. Plans are already underway for a new hands-on training annex designed to further strengthen workforce development and experiential learning opportunities for students.
Recognition is gratifying, but it is not the destination.
The destination is the student who discovers her confidence in a robotics lab. The senior who earns dozens of college credits before graduation. The intern who finds a future career. The student with autism who takes a bow on the Becton stage. The athlete who breaks a school record. The artist who finds their voice. The graduate who leaves Becton believing that anything is possible.
Those stories are the true measure of success. And they are why, at Becton Regional High School, we remain committed to our mission: Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes.
