Henry P. Becton Regional High School has named senior Claire Duardo as the May Student of the Month, recognizing her leadership, school involvement, and positive impact on the Becton community throughout her high school career.
Since freshman year, Claire has remained actively involved in student life, beginning as president of her freshman class and continuing through leadership roles in student council, peer leadership, yearbook, and Becton TV. She currently serves as the Media and Marketing representative on Student Council and was also one of this year’s senior yearbook editors.
In addition to her leadership positions, Claire hosted the school talent show during both her junior and senior years, helping create memorable experiences for students and staff. During junior year, she also served as a judge for Mock Trial and spent two years participating in Peer Leadership, where she worked closely with fellow students and helped foster a welcoming school environment.
Throughout high school, she explored a wide range of electives that reflected both her creativity and career interests. Her coursework included TV Production 1 and 2, Criminal Justice, Law, Film and Literature, Public Speaking, Wellness and Mindfulness, and several art courses including Art 1 & 2, Cultural Art, and Digital Art. Last year, she also appeared as an anchor for BTV News Reports.
After graduation, Claire plans to attend Caldwell University, where she will major in criminal justice before continuing on to the New Jersey State Police academy. Her long-term goal is to become a state trooper and eventually work her way up to Detective Sergeant while also joining the K-9 unit.
Her interest in law enforcement grew even stronger after participating in the 118th New Jersey State Police Trooper Youth Academy during the summer before senior year. The experience provided valuable insight into the profession and encouraged her to continue pursuing that path.
Claire’s involvement across academics, leadership, media, and service has made her a well-known and respected member of the Becton community. Her dedication, ambition, and willingness to take on new opportunities make her a deserving choice for May Student of the Month.
