Becton Regional High School is proud to announce November’s Student of the Month, Skyla Tallakson! Throughout her four years at Becton, Tallakson has remained determined and hardworking, even managing to become the 2024 Senior Class President! On top of balancing various AP and Honors classes, as well as multifarious extracurricular activities, it’s no surprise as to why she was chosen!
Tallakson is the captain of Becton’s girl’s varsity tennis team and runs winter and spring track. As she would put it, “Remember to keep yourself well rounded and not just focused on academics; make time for extracurriculars,” also mentioning how, despite the importance of academics, “your growth outside the classroom is what will ultimately set you apart from others.” She recommends to take every day one at a time, and to not let yourself get overwhelmed.
To attest to her character and academic skill, Andrea Kochik, Tallakson’s Algebra II Honors and Pre-Calculus Honors teacher shares, “Tallakson is modest, intuitive, and hard-working. She would exceed on challenges in higher math. Skyla is a well-rounded young lady which will lead to success in the future.”
Tallakson is an active member in her church community and, after her graduation this year, plans on taking a gap year to travel nationally and overseas to support humanitarian causes. After, she hopes to attend college on the east coast, focusing on educational studies as well as her minor in film.
Tallakson notes her close-knit community as being one of the most important entities to her. She enjoys spending time with her loved ones both in and out of school. During her free time, Tallakson also enjoys singing, traveling, and finding ways to stay active!
Tallakson is honored and grateful to the Becton staff for choosing her to be this month’s Student of the Month, and is overjoyed to see all her hard work paying off. Congratulations, Skyla!
