On February 20, 2026, the wrestling program at Henry P. Becton Regional High School will celebrate more than 50 years of dedication, perseverance, and excellence during its 100 Win Club Ceremony. The event will honor alumni wrestlers who reached the elite milestone of 100 career wins, recognizing their lasting contributions to the program’s history.
While there are no current wrestlers in the 100 Win Club or NJSIAA place winners this season, the ceremony is designed to spotlight the program’s legacy. Over the past five decades, the wrestling program has produced eight wrestlers who reached 100 career victories and six athletes who earned medals at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Tournament—one of the most competitive wrestling stages in the country.
Winning 100 matches during a high school wrestling career is a rare achievement, especially in New Jersey, where thousands of athletes from more than 300 schools compete each year. At the NJSIAA Tournament, held every March at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, only eight medals are awarded per weight class, making each placement a significant accomplishment.
The school’s 100 Win Club dates back to 2002, when Mike Decio became the first wrestler to reach the milestone, earning his 100th victory in a match that also secured his place in the state tournament. Most recently, Jordan Stallone joined the club in 2024. The program’s all-time wins leader is Roy Forys, who completed his career with an impressive 143 victories.
Becton’s history of state success began in 1996, when Everett Bell became the program’s first state medalist with a fourth-place finish. In 2005, Karim Mahmoud earned a sixth-place medal while representing Wallington High School during the years when the programs were co-oped. Brothers Bryan and Tyler Loughlin also etched their names into program history. James Dugan and Izabella Frezzo stand out as the only two multi-year 100-win winners, with Frezzo also becoming the first—and so far only—state champion in program history.
This season, the boys’ team continued to compete at a high level, placing second at tournaments in Belleville and Elmwood Park and finishing third at Clifton. The girls’ team opened their season with their first dual meet on January 29 and placed sixth overall at the Girls’ Counties. The program also recorded notable dual meet victories in Saddle Brook and Glen Rock.
Dr. Daniel Farina emphasized the significance of competing at the state level, noting, “To be able to obtain one of those spots on the medal stand is an epic achievement. Just qualifying for the states is a monumental task.”
The success and longevity of the wrestling program are rooted in decades of strong coaching. From 1970 to the present, coaches such as Coach Vartan, Coach Dombrowski, Coach Hughes, and Coach Settembrino have helped build a foundation of discipline, resilience, and pride that continues to shape the program today.
The 100 Win Club Ceremony serves as more than a recognition of victories—it is a tribute to the athletes, coaches, and traditions that have defined wrestling at Becton for more than half a century.
