Students and staff are eager for the new year, and have created their New Year’s Resolutions! New Year’s Resolutions are a popular tradition that are used all over the world to motivate people to list some goals that they want to accomplish for the upcoming year. Some of the most popular resolutions include working out more, eating healthier, saving money, working on time management, and much more. The Cat’s Eye View has sent out a Google Form asking staff and students what their New Year’s Resolutions are, and how they plan to accomplish them.

Many students and staff have one goal in mind– which is to work out more and ultimately become physically and mentally happier. As Mrs. Victoria De Santis has mentioned, she plans to “work on my health,” and has also stated that a lack of time to prepare her healthy meals will be the 2024 challenge she hopes to overcome. Our history teacher, Mr. Bill Carr, has resolutions to “get more sleep” and “drink more water.”

Some resolutions include fun, new activities to begin or take part in in the upcoming year. Mr. Carr has stated he wants to “ice skate more,” and one of our BRHS students, Marisa Sclafani, has also stated she wants to ,“workout more” and “get my license.” While some of these “firsts” have some great advantages, there are also some challenges that will be faced. Mr. Carr has addressed that a challenge for him is, “finding the time to do any of the above” and Sclafani has also included that she will have “a lot of homework”occupying her time.

While resolutions are more directed towards goals and being motivated to become better than before, some have also expressed some of their accomplishments as they reflect on the year 2023. English Department Chair, Mrs. Belinda Cannarozzi, was proud to watch her daughter get married and one senior is proud to mention paying off her upcoming World Language trip all by herself!

Becton Regional High School and the communities of East Rutherford, Carlstadt, and Maywood are very excited for a 2024 full of new beginnings, unforgettable moments, and boundless opportunities!

About the Contributor
Rocky Esposito
Rocky Esposito, Staff Writer
Rocky Esposito is a senior at Becton Regional High School. You may have heard his name before, as he is no stranger to the Cat’s Eye View. Esposito has contributed to Becton’s newspaper since his sophomore year, using his artistic skills to make comic strips. He is very passionate about art, specifically the field of animation. Esposito has been creating art for a while, but during his freshman year he decided to turn his hobby into a career. Since then, he has already made progress toward his goals through his freelance work and YouTube channel. For one particular freelance job, he was commissioned by a comedian from Staten Island, making comics to accompany his routine. Additionally, he has also had experience with the business side of being an artist, as he actually holds a copyright to one of his illustrations. Esposito is focused on building his career, but as he puts it, “The payment of this job is not just money, it is the pleasure of being able to do what I love to do.” Along with his animation, he is also experimenting with some other mediums, such as scriptwriting and voice acting. In the future, he plans to go to an art school and major in visual arts. He also wants to get more into comedy, inspired by his previous client. Overall, in his third year of the Cat’s Eye View, Esposito is excited for the chance to venture into writing as well as share more of his passion for art with the community.
