As the 2014-2015 Becton Math League season slowly comes to a close, the team has been rewarded a spot as the top three in the league with help from two senior members.

The Bergen County Math League has six matches each year with numerous schools from across the county participating. Each meet has a total of six questions that are timed. The questions range in difficulty with most members only receiving a one or two out of six.

Seniors Rebecca Sass and Max Rodriguez received the highest score of two separate matches during this season. Rebecca Sass scored a four out of six on November 13 and Max Rodriguez on February 26. The two seniors enabled the Becton Team to tie with Garfield for second place rank among the group five districts of this season.

Prarthana Rajai additionally scored well enough throughout the season to earn the third place position in the Bergen County Math League.

“This was a great season – we had more participants this year, and I hope that Becton Math League keeps growing in volume and earns greater awards in the coming years,” noted Prarthana on this year’s matches.

Reflecting on this past season, Senior Kerolos Aziz stated, “Math League had a great season this year with not only Prarthana Rajai coming in third in the league but several other students achieving high scores. While several seniors will be graduating this year, Becton’s Math League will be stronger and ready for next year’s season with the help from the coach, Mr. Jasinski.”
