The Becton Theatre Program is currently running a fundraiser from March 13 through April 13 to raise money for a cyclorama, a white backdrop that allows images and lighting to be projected during performances. The addition of this feature would enhance the visual experience of future shows.
The fundraiser is being led by members of the theatre program, who are seeking support from the Becton community both in school and online. Unlike traditional fundraisers, this effort focuses solely on donations, allowing students to dedicate more time to rehearsals and character development rather than selling products.
A cyclorama, often referred to as a “cyc,” can significantly expand creative possibilities on stage by allowing dynamic backgrounds, lighting effects, and projected images. This technology would provide the theatre program with new ways to bring scenes to life and create more immersive performances.
Ms. Wilson, Theatre Advisor, emphasized the impact this addition could have on future productions. “We are hoping to receive enough donations to be able to purchase a Cyclorama. It would really elevate any show we do here!” she said.
Students and community members interested in supporting the fundraiser can connect with any cast member to access the online donation platform. The fundraiser relies on the support of audiences and those who attend performances, aiming to improve the overall theatre experience at Becton.
As the theatre program continues to grow, this initiative represents an investment in both creativity and student performance. With community support, the addition of a cyclorama could help take Becton productions to the next level.
