The Becton softball team is preparing for a challenging and competitive season, with a strong focus on teamwork, skill development, and supporting one another. As the season approaches, the team is working toward its goal of finishing first in the league.
Led by seniors Morgan Decker and Kaylee Tuttle, along with returning juniors Kiara Ariza, Taylor Bails, Aleah Castro, Alexia Milone, Paige Salo, and Lirie Sulejmanoska, the team brings experience and depth to the field. Players have been practicing after school each day, preparing both mentally and physically for the competition ahead.
The team has emphasized improving key areas such as pitching, defense, and overall communication. In addition to daily practices, players have been competing in scrimmages against strong opponents to better prepare for the regular season. These matchups have helped the team adjust to higher levels of competition and build confidence heading into their games.
Mr. Kuhns, the team’s coach, expressed confidence in the group’s potential. “Our strengths are the experience and having a well-rounded team in which everyone can chip in as reliable players,” Mr. Kuhns said.
The Wildcats will open their varsity season on March 31 with an away game at Hawthorne. Their first home game will take place on April 8 at 4:00 p.m. against Lodi at McKenzie Field.
With high expectations and a commitment to improvement, the Becton softball team is looking to build on its strengths and compete at a high level throughout the season.
