As the fall sport seasons come to a close, Becton Regional congratulates two First Team All-County senior athletes: Mika Tampadong and Jonathan Palsi.
Tampadong, runner on the varsity track and cross country teams, has been honored as a First Team All-Bergen County runner in cross country for the second consecutive year showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. Additionally, she was selected for the All-North Jersey Team, which is composed of athletes from Bergen, Passaic, and parts of Essex and Hudson counties.
In one of her most recent achievements, Tampadong impressively shattered the previous Becton Cross Country record by one minute and four seconds, completing the 3.1-mile course in just 19 minutes. Her outstanding performances not only display her individual skills, but also contribute greatly to the driven atmosphere found in our Becton athletic programs.
Tampadong reflects on her cross country journey with passion, “I first got involved in cross country running to stay in shape for track and field, but I never expected to enjoy it so much, especially bonding with new friends at races and during summer camp,” she shares.
When asked about her sources of motivation and inspiration, Tampadong adds, “My role models have definitely been the upperclassmen who were very prominent in the county when I was just joining the sport. It’s very encouraging to see them run fast times as they finish their high school careers or begin running in college, and it means so much to be able to compete with them, especially when I once thought I could never be at their level.”
Similarly, Jonathan Palsi, captain of the varsity football team, has earned a spot on the First Team All-Bergen County Football team for his performance during the recent season. Under his leadership, Becton secured the NJIC Colonial Division title with an undefeated 6-0 league record and advanced to the state playoffs.
As a three-year varsity starter, Palsi displayed exceptional skill on the field, finishing among the top players in rushing touchdowns with an impressive total of 14 for the season. His contributions have been crucial in the team’s success and solidifying his role as a top player in Bergen County football.
These two athletes have delivered outstanding performances not only in their final seasons but throughout their entire high school careers. Athletes like Tampadong and Palsi exemplify that the true value of high school athletics extends beyond records and awards—it lies in the character they build, the confidence they gain, and the meaningful connections they forge along the way!
Congratulations, Tampadong and Palsi!
