As artificial intelligence becomes ever-present in the lives of humanity, it was a matter of time before it became ingrained into our school system. On Oct. 29, 2024 Henry P. Becton Regional High School hosted their very own AI-based convention titled the “AI Revolution Conference” where teachers were welcomed to a day of growing and learning about EdTech, the process of integrating artificial intelligence into our curriculum.
Becton Regional High School hosted a conference featuring a range of insightful speakers. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Michael Conner, CEO and Founder of Agile Evolutionary Group. Workshop presenters included Jenna Triano, Kathleen Appleby, M.Ed., Dr. Dario Sforza, Nicole Suntino, Ed.D., and Lisa Castelluber, Ph.D.. Ms. Triano and Ms. Appleby, both representing Innovations in Online Education, shared their expertise alongside the other presenters. Each speaker provided valuable perspectives on integrating AI and technology into schools and classrooms.
After breakfast was provided, the day started with Dr. Conner’s presentation on “Century Learning Ecosystems: AI and Innovation for Generation Z and Generation Alpha.” Afterwards, Ms. Appleby and Ms. Triano led a presentation titled “Practical Strategies for Implementing Technology.” Following this was a surprise performance of the most recent Becton play performed just days before, “The A.I. Play” featuring our shining theater students! Lunch came shortly after, and the day ended with a panel discussion featuring Becton students, local educational figures and EdTech professionals.
Dr. Dario Sforza explains that the reasoning behind hosting this conference was to “stay ahead of the curve and integrate AI in a responsible and effective way.” He is a member of the NJAEL (New Jersey Association of Educational Leaders) and felt it informative and helpful to bring this opportunity to Becton in an effort to expand the minds of attendees.
While the showing of “The A.I. Play” was spontaneous, Dr. Sforza “immediately picked up on the congruences between the show and all that would be presented at the conference.” He felt that the different perspectives offered in the play were imperative to the success of the conference and despite it being last minute, the show pulled everything together beautifully!
Becton Regional is well-equipped to handle the evolution of AI, and we are adamant on keeping teachers informed on the importance of implementing it into our curriculum. The “AI Revolution Conference” was beyond informative and a hit with all attendees!
