Girls’ softball has had an amazing start to their season thus far and varsity pitcher Demi Dembinski proves this to be true– as she recently reached 300 strikeouts during the win against higher seated Ridgewood in the County tournament. Dembinski pitched a great game, ending with a total of 5 strikeouts to not only earn her the 300, but propel the Lady Wildcats to Victory. This achievement is even more rewarding because Dembinski did not start pitching until her sophomore year. Reaching 300 strikeouts takes much skill, dedication and hard work. When asked how it felt to reach 300 strikeouts, Dembinski explained, “I felt extremely excited to achieve such a milestone.”

Varsity catcher, Morgan Wagner has nothing but happiness for her teammate’s success. Wagner stated, “I was catching for her every step of the way. She is a great pitcher. Her pitches move and her speed is great. She is an all-around great player.” Wagner goes on to further commend her teammate praising her perseverance saying, “She pitches her hardest every game no matter what.”

Other notable performances include Francesca Buda’s run to earn Becton the winning point and Gabriella O’Hares 2 hits. The teams current record is 10-6 • 4-4 in NJIC – Meadowlands. The girls are currently ranked 4th in the Meadowlands Division, but with the tenacity and heart of the players on the team, 1st place is surely in sight.
