Senior Skwarek places first at Becton Talent Show

Alden and Coffee Talk place second and third

The 2018 Becton’s Best Talent Show, which was coordinated by Junior Class Adviser Ms. O’Driscoll and hosted by juniors Paige Kruse and Aliyah Dearmas, took place on March 27 in the JW-PAC .

The first place winner of this year’s show is Senior Benedykt Skwarek who played “Asturias” by Isaac Albeniz on the guitar.

The second place winner is the band Alden who wrote and performed “Good Riddance” and “Taken for Granted.” Becton seniors Matthew Jimenez and Joey Pardo are members of the band along with Sophomore Christian Ochoa. Former BHS student Chris Chavez and Wallington High School student Anthony Pasquale are also members of the group.

Last but certainly not least, a comedic performance by seniors Lauren Kaszka and Tyler Koch called “Coffee Talk” placed third.

Other performances during the show include the band Mind Hazard, which is made up of Junior Justin Wojna, Montclair High School sophomore Max Munoz, Seton Hall Prep freshman AC Borress and Grover Cleveland High School student Spencer Thorn.

Junior Nikola Gielarowiec then sang “Listen” by Beyonce, and Freshman Blaze Grabowski played “Waltz 64 Opt. 2,” “Clair de Lune” and “Alla Turca” on the piano.

Furthermore, Senior Tiffany Lopez sang “I Still Believe” by Mariah Carey and the band Mouth of War, which includes Becton freshman Gianna D’Amato, and Wood-Ridge High School students Chris Dunn and Anthony Glavan, played “Cemetary Gates.”

Lastly, Senior Justina Cabezas and juniors Chloe Jaime and Jaylen Huila performed a dance segment entitled Dancing in the Dark and Senior Isis Polanco sang “Nightingale” by Demi Lovato.

All money raised from the fundraiser will be donated to the 2018 Junior-Senior Prom, which will take place on May 31 at the Tides Estate in North Haledon. Prom bids go on sale May 7.
