Beginning the 2024-2025 school year, Becton welcomed back Class of 2014 alumna, Ms. Nikki Dombrowski. For the first time, Ms. Dombrowski steps into the role of Confidential Assistant, providing essential administration support to Superintendent Dr. Dario Sforza. In this role, she helps manage time-sensitive information and ensure the seamless execution of initiatives and goals of the Board of Education.
Following her graduation from Becton, Ms. Dombrowski attended the University of Delaware, where she majored in Human Services, Family and Administrative Policy, with a minor in Italian Studies. While attending the University of Delaware, she took part in the study abroad program and spent one semester in Rome, Italy.
Ms. Dombrowski began her career in the nonprofit industry, a field that was extremely important to her. She worked for an American-Italian Cancer Foundation, a small charity based in New York City. Soon after, Ms. Dombrowski relocated to Italy, where she took on an administrative role at Alien Technology Transfer. Working at Alien Technology Transfer gave her the opportunity to work with colleagues from different countries around the world and learn how to work in an international work environment.
While living in Italy was not the easiest, Ms. Dombrowski found the positive within the challenges it brought. “It pushed me completely out of my comfort zone,” she noted. Here she was able to improve her Italian-speaking skills immensely, and work in a foreign country in an international environment. She also started a book club! Overall, Ms. Dombrowski’s time in Italy deepened her love for the culture and lifestyle; even after returning to America, she still continues to incorporate the Italian lifestyle into her daily life.
Graduating from Becton over a decade ago, Ms. Dombrowski explains her experience as one of growth. Upon returning, she expresses admiration for the incredible improvements made during her absence. She highlights the advancements in academics, career opportunities, extracurricular activities, and, most notably, the overall school climate. “I’m grateful to contribute to a place that provides students with a safe environment in which to succeed,” she attests.
Growing up, Ms. Dombrowksi loved cheerleading and participated for over ten years. Now, as the Head Cheer Coach for the Becton Cheer Team, she has returned to her roots. Coaching has become a meaningful experience for Ms. Dombrowski, allowing her to mentor younger generations and connect with students.
Ms. Dombrowski has implemented new rules and strategies for her team. She aims to help the younger generation navigate and overcome obstacles she once faced when she was in their shoes. She emphasizes the importance of having a coach to teach you not only what to do, but why you are doing it, “The lessons you learn, the habits you develop, and the attitude you adopt in high school sports can significantly shape your path and influence how you approach life moving forward,” she notes.
Outside of school, Ms. Dombrowski enjoys spending quality time with her friends, family and dog. A frequent runner, she completed her first half marathon this past September! She also has a passion for exploring new restaurants, traveling, reading, and enjoying coffee.
‘Bentornata’, Ms. Dombrowski!
