Becton Junior Gene Lee earns perfect score on math portion of SAT

Junior Gene Lee is currently enrolled in Mr. Mendelsohn’s Pre-Calculus Honors class.

Becton Junior Gene Lee has earned an 800 on the math portion of the October SAT.

“I was surprised. It was actually pretty hard for me,” he said.

Gene credits a large portion of his success to an SAT class that he was enrolled in this past summer called Master Klass Academy in Palisades Park. “The course helped me tremendously,” he noted. The Becton junior attended the SAT class every single day in the summer from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. except on the weekends.

“My parents paid for the classes and drove me every single day, so I want to thank them for that,” said Gene.

About 20 students who also attended Master Klass earned over 1500 points on their October SAT as well.

Gene would like to attend Rutgers University or Stanford University and become a hematologist.

“I strive to follow in Tenzin Topten’s footsteps. He graduated from Becton and is currently attending Stanford,” he said.

Gene’s advice for future SAT test takers is to “start studying early and focus intensely on your work.”
