As the school year draws to a close, Becton Regional High School proudly honors Liliana Bravo as June’s Student of the Month, celebrating her remarkable achievements, dedication, and character.
For Bravo, this recognition is more than just a title–it’s a culmination of years of effort. “Earning Student of the Month feels incredibly rewarding after all the hard work I’ve put in at Becton,” she reflects. “It truly makes me feel seen, appreciated, and proud of everything I’ve accomplished.”
Outside the classroom, Bravo has been a powerhouse of involvement: a three-year Cross Country runner, a four year Track & Field athlete, and a member of numerous clubs including NHS, Rho Kappa, the Yearbook Club, and more. Her wide-ranging participation demonstrates her commitment to growth both in and out of school.
Bravo has also built an impressive academic record, having taken advanced English classes and over four dual enrollment courses. Balancing it all wasn’t easy, but her persistence paid off. “With a routine and patience, I was able to do it,” she advises. Despite her demanding schedule, Bravo recognizes the importance of balance—she enjoys running to clear her mind, exploring new foods with friends, and spending time with loved ones. “I try my best to give myself time because it is very important,” she reflects.
Bravo attributes her motivation and balance to her older sister, who continues to be one of the biggest inspirations. “My older sister inspires me to keep working hard and believe I can achieve my goals,” she shares warmly.
She also credits teachers and mentors like Coach Dorsey. Mrs. Scalera, and friends like Sarah, Julia, Claudia, and Goumana for supporting her journey.
“Liliana is driven, dependable, and always puts in 100% effort,” praises Sarah Ingram, a close friend and classmate. “Even when we were kids, Liliana took school seriously. She’s learned how to manage her time in a way that most adults still struggle with– balancing sports, clubs, faith, and friendships with grace.”
Ingram describes Bravo’s transformation over the years as one of quiet strength turning into visible confidence. “She doesn’t second-guess herself anymore. Now she believes in her abilities and works hard without waiting for approval. Watching her grow has been inspiring.”
Another longtime friend, Goumana Abouelbahy Elnaggar, echoes these sentiments. “I have known Lily since middle school, and I have seen her grow not just academically but personally. She’s real, she’s funny, and she’s incredibly hardworking. What you see is what you get–there’s no pretending with her.”

Both Ingram and Abouelbahy Elnaggar emphasize that what makes Bravo stand out is not just her accomplishments–it’s how she treats people. “She gives amazing advice, and she actually listens,” Abouelbahy Elnaggar said. “Even if I’m having a terrible day, she finds a way to lift me up. I don’t just admire her as a student–I admire her as a person.”
“Liliana has an outstanding work ethic,” Mrs. Scalera, her former English teacher, agrees. “She approaches her assignments with focus, care, and consistency. Whether it was a group project or an individual task, she always gave it her best. She also shows kindness, patience, and maturity in all interactions.”
Mrs. Scalera adds, “She always asked thoughtful questions and took initiative when she needed help. Her consistency and attention to detail are rare and admirable.”
Similar to Ingram, Mrs. Scalera also emphasizes Bravo’s evolution. “Over time, she became more confident in her abilities, more vocal in class discussions; and more confident in her learning. She leads by example and remains humble in her success. She was a pleasure to teach and an asset to any classroom or community she’s a part of.”
Track coach Mr. Dorsey, who worked closely with Bravo for four years, echoed these thoughts. “Liliana possesses an outstanding work ethic—she is dependable, driven, and selfless. On the track and field team, she understood every workout perfectly and never missed an opportunity to help others. Having her on the team was like having another coach.”
Mr. Dorsey continues, specifically noting Bravo’s natural leadership, “Since freshman year, Liliana has emerged as a leader in the classroom and on the track. She addresses large crowds with ease and carries herself with poise and maturity.”
After graduation, Liliana will attend The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) to pursue a degree in Psychology, with hopes of becoming a marriage counselor.
Her friends believe she’s more than ready. “She’s going into marriage counseling, and I think that fits her so well,” says Abouelbahy Elnaggar, “She’s a great listener and gives the best advice.”
Bravo encourages future seekers of Students of the Month to get involved in meaningful activities, leave a lasting impression on their teachers, and remain committed to maintaining a strong GPA—knowing that every effort contributes to long-term success.
Coach Dorsey shares one final message of encouragement to Bravo, “When you make it to the top, send the elevator back down!”
Liliana Bravo is more than a high-achieving student—she’s a role model, a leader, and a friend whose impact will be felt long after she crosses the graduation stage. Becton is proud to call her one of its own!
