A Look Back at Kaitlyn Reiner’s Sophomore Basketball Season

Girl’s basketball team after Kaitlyn Reiner made her 100th 3 point shot

Sophomore Kaitlyn Reiner has continued to thrive this basketball season and has been recognized multiple times for it! She has won NJIC player of the week two times, JerseyZone Game Ball of the week, New Jersey Top Sophomore of the year and is currently a candidate for the MVP for NJIC for the season. NJIC player of the week is based on stats for the week of games, but the others are voted. To get her to this point, she has continued to practice, even when she does not have team practice. “I play a lot in the offseason with my AAU team, the NJ Freedom,” she commented.

Reiner has 101 3-point baskets and 103 2-point baskets for the season. She has 555 points for the season, 118 rebounds, 28 blocks, 61 assists and 46 steals. While putting in the hard work and effort, she says that she loves the sport and finds it fun to play! One of her teammates, Analise Feliz, commented about her awards. “Kaitlyn is overall a good player and deserves the awards that she has received!” Though Reiner says she does not necessarily feel she deserves the awards, she thinks that it has been nice to be recognized for the determination she has put into the season.

Reiner feels that basketball is the ultimate team sport and says that Becton’s team is amazing. Everyone on the team contributes to the success. “Annie and Gracie have an amazing number of rebounds, and Francesca has an awesome number of assists,” she says, talking about Sophomores Analise Feliz, Gracie Taylor, and Francesca Buda. Her other teammates have done an amazing job this season and without them, Reiner feels that she would not be able to get the awards that she has!
