The Becton Homecoming Game ended with a victory over the Saddle Brook Falcons, 35-14, and the announcement of Homecoming King and Queen, Rameen Isaac and Shannon Kennedy, on Oct. 17.

“The game had a great atmosphere, and the entire homecoming court was fantastic. I was very pleased at how the entire game went from start to finish. Also, the fans and supporters were great; can’t forget about them,” said cheering coach and English teacher Mrs. Scalera.

The game’s half time show was jam-packed with performances by both schools’ cheering squads and marching bands, and just before the game continued, the 2014-15 homecoming court made an appearance on the traditional homecoming float.

This year’s court was made up of Shannon Kennedy, Faith Banca, Sharon Skeahan, Rebecca Sass, Rameen Isaac, Roy Forys, Alex Gatopoulos, and Abdul Habib. Despite a very close race for the crown, ultimately only two students were crowned king and queen.

“It has always been a dream of mine to win something like Homecoming King. I’m really glad that my peers decided to vote for me, and I just want to let you all know that I really appreciate it. I’m keeping my crown and sash over my headboard,” said Rameen.

Rameen has played high school football for all four years and has been a starter for two of those years. He plans to attend California University of Pennsylvania where he will study medicine and continue to play football.

“It was so surreal to win. I’m still pretty excited about it. I have my crown hanging on my dresser right next to my Prom Princess crown,” said Shannon.

Shannon is a captain of the varsity cheering squad, as well as a member of the Key Club and Girls Helping Girls. In addition, she coaches the Junior Wildcats recreation and competition cheering teams. Although undecided on what college she would like to attend in the fall, she hopes to major in fashion merchandising.
