Ashton Reyes, Staff Writer
Ashton Reyes is taking his first leap into the world of journalism at Becton Regional High School! Described by peers as personable, funny, kind and outgoing, Reyes is currently a senior playing football for Becton as a wide-receiver, and is heavily involved in basketball as the shooting guard. While not enrolled in any clubs, he is eager to become involved in Spring Track & Field soon.
In his free time, Reyes can be found listening to some of his favorite music artists, Drake, Brent Faiyaz and Tyler, the Creator. He recalls a love for the hip-hop genre. Outside of school, Reyes is also heavily involved in AAU (Amateur Athletic Union) basketball, competing with other teams in a travel atmosphere. He plays a lot of football and basketball with his friends and frequents the gym as a pastime.
After high school, Reyes is hopeful to attend college pursuing basketball, as well as following in his sister’s footsteps to attend a university in Connecticut – the University of New Haven is certainly an option on his radar. If Reyes decides not to attend college in Connecticut, then he would like to stay in-state here in New Jersey.
Reyes’ shares a quote that resonates with his desire to be recognized by, and inspire, his peers from one of his favorite artists – Drake: “I need 40,000 people to see what I’m on.” As a matter of fact, we at the CEV look forward to seeing Ashton shine as a valued staff member!
