Becton Regional High School has partnered with Innovations in Online Education (IOE) to support juniors as they prepare for the SAT, ACT, and college applications. This initiative provides an expert-led prep course that will be offered virtually twice a week, covering SAT preparation and college essay writing. The program, valued at $999, is being offered at a significantly reduced cost of only $50 per student, making it accessible to more families.
Guidance counselor Mrs. Victoria De Santis expressed enthusiasm about the program’s launch, stating, “We have had an overwhelming amount of students who are interested, so we are looking forward to the program launching in March.” This marks a first for Becton juniors, and students, parents, and teachers are optimistic that it will provide valuable support in the college application process.
The program offers:
- Expert SAT Preparation: An eight-week online course with two sessions per week (one verbal and one math), taught by experienced instructors to help students maximize their scores.
- College Essay & Application Support: Guidance in tackling Common Application prompts, scholarship essays, and other key aspects of the college application process.
- Financial Aid & College Aid Tutorials: Sessions available in both English and Spanish to help students and families navigate FAFSA and financial aid options.
- College Readiness Webinars: A series covering topics such as finding the best-fit college and crafting standout essays.
- SAT & ACT Practice Tests – Ongoing (Contact Guidance)
- Essays that Kicked Apps – May 15th
- On-Site College Visits: Opportunities to connect with admissions representatives from colleges and universities nationwide.
- Inside Track to College Admissions: Informational sessions designed to empower students and parents in the college transition process.
Sessions will run from March 24 through May 22, 2025, with a sign-up deadline of Friday, Feb. 21. While this program is currently open only to juniors, Becton hopes to continue offering it in the future.
Superintendent Dr. Dario Sforza emphasized the district’s commitment to student success, stating, “Your success is our priority, and we’re providing this program to help you achieve your dreams!”
