The Spotlight Playhouse, an East Rutherford and Carlstadt community theater that was created this past spring, will be performing The Addams Family on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22 in the Becton Performing Arts Center (B-PAC).

The show will include performances from Becton juniors Victoria Gatopolous, Christina Woyce, Tyler Koch, Victoria Gramlich and Senior Eunice Hwang. Former Becton graduates John Rotella and Rebecca Cruz  founded the company because East Rutherford and Carlstadt were two of the few towns that did not have their own community theater.

Moving on, they decided that The Addams Family would be a perfect musical to start with. “We were aiming for an October show date so the theme of our show would fit perfectly with the season,” Rotella said.

The Addams Family is a musical based on the classic and kooky cartoons that everyone has come to know. The show was originally introduced to Broadway in 2010 and included actors such as Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth who played Morticia and Gomez Addams.

In The Spotlight Playhouse version of the musical, Tyler Koch and Rebecca Cruz play the two main characters. Furthermore, in addition to playing a main role, Rebecca is also a choreographer and a director.

“It adds to the quintessential fall experience – pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, American Horror Story and hayrides, so come to The Spotlight Playhouse’s production of The Addams Family!” exclaimed Rotella.
