Becton Basketball is having an impressive season, with senior shooting guard Adrian Rozon reaching the major milestone of scoring his 1,000th career point during their game against St. Mary High School on Jan. 3, 2025.
Going into the game just 14 points shy of the milestone, Rozon hit a 3-pointer to reach 1,001 career points—an achievement that highlighted the tremendous effort he has consistently demonstrated on the court. As a result of his steady dedication and leadership, Rozon was even named one of the team captains this season.

Rozon recalls his first game as a freshman, reflecting on how Coach Dan Balaban believed in him and motivated him to work toward earning a varsity spot. By his sophomore season, after becoming a starter, Rozon set his sights on reaching this milestone.
As he approached the 1,000-point mark, he admitted feeling anxious but remained focused on achieving his goal. Rozon credits his teammates for pushing him to improve daily, saying, “They’re always challenging me to become a better player every day.”
Looking back, Rozon described the most memorable moment of his career at his game in this year’s Herb Cohen Holiday Tournament against Waldwick High School. Rozon finished the game with 24 points and hit the game-winning shot, “We were down with a few seconds left on the clock and I came down the court to make the bucket that put us up by 2. Everyone was ecstatic as we advanced to the next round.”
Rozon’s teammates speak highly of their captain. Senior guard Jonathan Palsi describes Rozon as one of the hardest workers on the court and a resilient person, “Adrian handles pressure very well; he’s able to adapt to tough opponents and bounce back, making him a valuable asset to our team.” Rozon inspires his teammates to go the extra mile, setting a high standard for everyone at practice. Palsi adds, “Adrian sets an example of how the team can perform in every tough situation. He shows us what we are capable of if everyone works together.”

Junior guard, Selim El Hetawy, applauds Rozon for his scoring success but also emphasizes that Rozon is a very selfless leader and player, “His willingness to swing the ball while knowing he is so close to his 1000th point journey is something that most players don’t do. He inspires me to stay committed to the game.”
Rozon’s consistent scoring has been invaluable in key moments for his team. As a leader for Becton, his dedication to the sport is evident on the court. He advises student-athletes to work hard and stay consistent: “If you continue to refine your craft and stay committed to your goals, you can accomplish any goal you set your mind to.”
Congratulations Adrian on this fantastic accomplishment!
