Ms. Meaghan Morano is officially a new addition to the Child Study Team at Becton Regional High School.
Ms. Morano has always dreamt of helping people in their most difficult situations for as long as she can remember. Although she originally wanted to pursue a career in special education, she explains that, “After taking one intro to social work class, I fell in love with my current career.”
Ms. Morano started at Becton as a social work graduate intern in 2023-2024, additionally working as an intern in various other organizations in preparation to be an advocate for youth and families of all different needs. “From the first day of interning here, I immediately felt like this was my second home,” she remarked. While building lasting relationships with her co-workers in CST, she also grew close to the students she counseled. She credits her students for the admiration she holds for the career she now has as a social worker.
Ms. Morano attended Seton Hall University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and soon went to Ramapo College to obtain her Master’s Degree in Social Work. “I always told myself that I can influence a person’s worst day by advocating for their needs and providing resources through counseling,” she commented.
Reflecting on her own high school experience, Ms. Morano emphasizes the importance of trusting in one’s journey and the belief that everything happens for a reason. She recalls feeling overwhelmed and full of self-doubt as her life rapidly changed after high school, but now, with time and reflection, she understands that trusting yourself is key to overcoming challenges.
Drawing from this mindset, she shares her goal for her students: “My goal for my students this year is to help students develop strong coping skills, foster resilience, and create a sense of belonging,” she informs earnestly, highlighting the prioritization of their academics alongside personal growth.
“Some people in your life may continue on your journey and some may stay behind. Regardless of who is in your life and who is not, it is important to remember that you have yourself and you have to always believe in yourself,” Ms. Morano shared with conviction. With such a positive attitude, it is no surprise that Ms. Morano has already been thriving at Becton.
We are excited to officially welcome Ms. Morano to the Wildcat family!
