Becton Regional proudly awards sophomore Bless Abaracoso as Artist of the Month for the month of November!
The Artist of the Month is nominated based on input from every teacher in the art department. The art teachers, Mrs. Savincki, Mr. Donovan, Mr. Mitchell, and Mrs. Lennon chose students from each of their classes who demonstrated exceptional effort, creativity, and skill and selected one student who they believed best exemplified these values.
Abaracoso is a top student dedicated to working hard in all her classes. She is a proud member of our Images Magazine Club, and she enjoys working with paint and color pencils. She also plans to pursue art in some form in the future.
Abaracoso was selected this month because of the hard work she has put into her art, which can be seen in her works. One of her works, a still-life drawing, features seemingly random objects that work together to create a meaningful representation. It features techniques such as shading, for which Abaracoso made sure to thank her teachers and credit them for– because they helped her improve these skills.
She also completed a colorful detailed portrait, demonstrating her work ethic. She shared that she “easily worked on it for at least 3 days total, but is proud of the results that came from it.” When asked whether she enjoys the process of art or the results, she shared, “I enjoy both; I like the satisfaction that comes from it and the process because it is one thing that comes naturally to me.”
When asked about her reaction to finding out she won, Abaracoso shared that it was not something she was expecting but that she was happy when she found out. She thanks her teachers that helped her with her art and is thankful for the nomination. She was happy she received recognition because she works hard on her projects, “I put my best in my art.”
Abaracoso’s success serves as an example of how far working on your passions can take you!
