On Tuesday, Nov. 21, Becton’s annual Stuff the Bus trip was held. Stuff the Bus is an event run by WRAT, a radio station located in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. The purpose of the event is to collect enough non-perishable food items, clothes such as socks or pajamas, other items like wash cloths, diapers and wipes, crayons or children’s gifts, toiletries and more, to fill a 50-foot tractor trailer. They also accepted monetary donations. Becton’s part in it this year was to fill a bus with goods, and transport them to Neptune, New Jersey.
All of the donations are taken to a food bank in central New Jersey. This is to help those in need in our state. This should, and will, help a lot of people obtain meals and other necessary items.
In total, 45 students and 4 staff members (Ms. Ryan, Mr. Ryan, Mr. Kuhns, and Mr. Maucione) attended. This year’s Stuff the Bus went extremely well! All of the students who attended were very helpful with the transportation of goods from Becton to Neptune, NJ. The students created an assembly line to bring all the food from the bus into the shipping container. Overall, it was efficient and smooth!
Ms. Ryan attests, “The purpose was to help families in need during the holiday season.” We definitely achieved our goal, with a lot of items getting donated and a bunch of students who donated their time in order to help others in need!
