Girls’ basketball team has high hoops for upcoming season

Senior captains Dany Balaskovits and Tania Castro discuss their goals for the season.

Becton Girls’ Basketball prepares for another season, and similar to the boys, the girls also have a first year varsity head coach. Coach Bott will take over for the team, planning to use her experience to bring the championship here to Becton. Coaching at Secaucus for 14 years as both the basketball and softball coach, she is ready to begin.

“I’m looking forward to a successful season as the team is working hard and we hope to get a lot of fan support,” she said.

Senior Danielle Bartlett stated, “We are all extremely anxious as this is the last year playing basketball for many of us. However, we have plenty of time to create memories and win games.”

Being part of the program for all four of her years in high school, Danielle has gone through multiple coaches but states she is confident in Mrs. Bott. “It is difficult changing year after year with a new coach but this year with Mrs. Bott and her experience we should have a great season.”

Captain Danyelle Balaskovits stated, “This season honestly could not have started in a better way. I feel like the whole team connected with her [Mrs. Bott] right then and there. She makes us work harder and harder each day to prepare us for the season. The fact that I already feel strong about my team winning multiple games and tournaments makes me excited for the rest of the season. As a senior captain, along with Tania Castro, I believe this can be the strongest girls’ basketball team Becton has ever had.”

The team plans on only looking forward in a positive direction as the season goes on. The girls are hopeful and confident in their ability to win games and make it to States.
