The Robotics Club, also known as the “Bectobots,” will be hosting its first Innovation Fair in Becton’s gymnasium on Wed., April 25 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The purpose of the fair is to showcase student talent in the field of science, technology, engineering, the arts and math (STEAM). “Local high schools will be challenged to innovate and design something that will help benefit the school,” stated Robotics Club Adviser Mrs. Mackanin.

The Innovation Fair is sponsored by the SBJC’s STEAM League.

“We encourage people to come out that night to support us and watch us compete,” said the adviser. “We are very excited and honored to have this brand new event make its debut at Becton Regional High School.”

The Innovation Fair is sponsored by the South Bergen Jointure Commission’s STEAM League.

Besides preparing for the Innovation Fair, the Bectobots have participated in competitions hosted by “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology” (FIRST) whose purpose is to “inspire young people to be technology leaders and innovators.” “We had our first real competition under FIRST Robotics in January, and although we didn’t rank, the team learned a lot,” said Mrs. Mackanin.
