Becton Regional High School introduces High Impact Tutoring as a new after-school program designed to provide students with additional help on their coursework. Monday through Friday in the media center, from 2:46 to 3:46 p.m, teachers from various subjects offer tutoring on an individual level. There will be teachers across different subjects tutoring each day, selected based on student needs and data collected through surveys and requests. Information about teacher schedules can be found on social media @Becton High Impact Tutoring, and on Google Classroom. Access to the program’s online classroom can be obtained upon request from program director, Mr. Vargas.
Participating in High Impact Tutoring allows students to lift two demerits, provided they remain for the entire hour. For students with prior engagements, the option is available to attend for as long as they’d like; however, a full session is necessary to have demerits reduced.

To alleviate much of the stress that students deal with, the program will also offer Self-Discovery Through Art, a component that combines art with mindfulness techniques to help students alleviate stress while exploring their creative side.
Mr. Vargas wants students to know that High Impact Tutoring is for everyone, from struggling students who need help catching up, to high-achieving students seeking enrichment opportunities. He emphasizes, “Our High-Impact Tutoring program can be helpful as well as fun,” as seen through incentives like the monthly raffle and demerit reduction. The staff is dedicated to making tutoring a time that should excite students.
