Becton’s undefeated varsity volleyball team has begun their season with triumph. The team’s current record stands at 14-0 and they intend keeping this streak going throughout the remainder of the season.

At the Hackensack Volleyball Tournament, the girls brought home the gold after knocking out competitive teams like Bergenfield, Hackensack, and Leonia. The players received a massive trophy to approbate their hard work and team effort they put in.

The season officially kicked off with a prevailing win against Immaculate Conception.

This year’s floor captains are Seniors Danyelle Balaskovits and Kayla Clarke, who are keen on leading the team to victory. After several talented players graduating, including the main setter, Coach Settembrino has helped Kayla become more comfortable with setting for the outside hitters, which include Seniors Danyelle and Taylor Gruntfest, as well as Juniors Stephanie Mitarotonda and Dekyi Tenzin.

Last year during the Battle of Paterson Ave, Becton beat Wallington for the first time in several years. This year, the girls hope to keep the trophy and the title. Coach Settembrino is eager to see what the girls have in store this season.

“I think it’s a total team effort. The only stat we’re worried about is winning and losing,” stated Coach Settembrino. “We’re not playing as individuals anymore. We’re playing as a team.”
