For the Becton Cross Country Team, it has been one hill of a season. Simultaneously competing against North Arlington and Paterson Charter, the team currently has a record of 2-2.

Cross country captains include Senior Matt Cano and Junior Brent Addeo, who strive to lead their teammates to success. Daily conditioning sessions and determination lead the runners as they work to improve their individual times.

The team is led by Coach Mendelsohn, Coach Jasinski, and Coach Walsh who hope to qualify for the States and Counties. The three coaches have all assisted these runners by providing a positive atmosphere and helpful tips to improve their running abilities.

“I feel that the team has good chemistry together and we enjoy working out and racing,” said Mr. Mendelsohn. He expects all the athletes to push hard and keep a optimistic mindset as the season continues.

Cross Country is a 5K or 3.1 mile race through trails at local county parks. Teams are composed of seven individuals, and the goal of every runner is to drop his or her time from race to race.
