The Becton Varsity Debate Team continued its winning streak at its second tournament of the year in Fort Lee. Despite facing staunch competition, the team won not one, not two, but three trophies.

Juniors Ryan Strauss and Zak Kandiel won second place overall team with a record of 4-0. Zak Kandiel also won the third place individual speaker medal, and Ryan Strauss brought home the second place individual speaker trophy.

Debate Coach Mr. Shin has been nothing but ecstatic about the wins. With a large pool of new debaters this year, he has been allowing many teams to test their mettle in varsity. For example, the varsity freshman team made up of Amanda Quintana and Lamiyah Rajai participated in the Fort Lee tournament on October 30, and performed exceptionally well by exhibiting the most growth as novice debaters.

With several wins under their belt, the debate team has begun preparations for both their next varsity tournament and first junior varsity tournament.
