Members of Becton’s National Honor Society collected cartoon band-aids for the Children’s Hospital at the Hackensack University Medical Center in their latest service project. The band-aids will all go directly to the Tomorrows Children’s Fund, an organization that helps children cope with cancer and blood disorders.

“These kids are constantly getting treatments and blood transfusions. Donating cartoon band-aids is a small way to be able to support them and possibly brighten their day,” said NHS Adviser Mrs. Colangelo.

With an impressive donation of over 160 boxes, this year’s contribution brought in the most band-aids that the club has ever collected.

“It’s rewarding to donate something tangible, rather than just money,” said Secretary Miranda Febus. “It’s definitely nice to see our donations physically helping others.”

As this project wraps up, the National Honor Society is already embarking on new ventures. This month, NHS members are collecting change for Pennies for Patients, an organization that has allowed countless students across the country to raise millions of dollars to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Meanwhile, in March, the club will collect books for Reach Out and Read to promote nationwide literacy.  Following that, the National Honor Society will team up with East Rutherford Beautification Committee in April to collect litter within the community.
